Concentric Bending

Ankay Büküm provides concentric bending for conical transition pieces, eccentric reducers, and taper production in Ankara Ostim.

What Is Concentric Bending?

Concentric bending is a specialized sheet metal forming process in which metal plates are shaped into conical (tapered) forms. This method produces transition pieces that taper from a larger diameter to a smaller one, reducer cones, and eccentric transition elements. At Ankay Büküm, located in Ankara's Ostim Industrial District, we perform precision conical bending on our hydraulic plate rolling machines using specialized dies and adjustment techniques, manufacturing critical transition components for penstock pipelines and industrial plant projects.

Application Areas

  • Penstock Pipelines: Conical reducer transition pieces connecting pipe segments of different diameters, DN300 to DN3000 range
  • Industrial Plants: Conical transition elements for ventilation ducts, chimney systems, and process pipelines requiring diameter changes
  • Storage Tanks: Tank bottom and top cone sections, hopper discharge cones, and silo transition elements
  • Cement and Mining: Cyclone cones, separator bodies, and dust collection system transition pieces
  • Food and Chemical Industry: Stainless steel conical transitions, mixer cones, and reactor bottom components

Technical Capacity and Specifications

Concentric bending differs from standard cylindrical rolling in that additional pressure is applied to one side of the machine. Our facility produces conical forms in thicknesses from 2 mm to 40 mm. Cone transitions are manufactured with large diameters up to DN3000 and small diameters down to DN300. Cone angle is adjustable from 5 to 45 degrees depending on project requirements. Both symmetric (concentric) and asymmetric (eccentric) transition pieces are produced.

Quality Assurance

Since conical parts demand high dimensional accuracy, CNC-prepared templates are used for each piece, and detailed measurement is performed after bending. Welding and fabrication processes follow EN ISO 3834-2 standards. Ultrasonic thickness measurement and radiographic inspection are applied when required.

Ankay Büküm offers specialized expertise for projects requiring custom conical geometries. Frequently Asked Questions

What is concentric bending and what is it used for?

Concentric bending is a process where metal plates are conically rolled to produce transition pieces tapering from a larger to a smaller diameter. It is used for penstock reducer cones, tank cones, and plant transition elements.

What materials can be processed?

Carbon steel (S235, S355), stainless steel (AISI 304, 316L), and aluminum plates are processed. Thickness range is 2 mm to 40 mm.

What is Ankay Büküm's concentric bending capacity?

Conical transition pieces are produced from DN300 to DN3000 diameter range in 2-40 mm thickness. Cone angle is adjustable between 5-45 degrees. Both concentric and eccentric forms are available.

What products are made with concentric bending?

Penstock reducer cones, tank top/bottom cones, hopper discharge cones, cyclone bodies, ventilation duct transitions, and process line reduction/expansion pieces are manufactured.

How are pricing and delivery times determined?

Pricing is project-based according to diameter range, thickness, cone angle, material, and quantity. Standard cone pieces are delivered within 3-7 business days. Contact us for a detailed quote.
